Friday Summer Post #4

Good Morning!

I have spent a lot of time with interviews this week and am happy to thank Gwen for helping to secure Marcela Zarate as our Kindergarten transitional bilingual teacher. I also want to thank Janet for helping to interview and select Angela Hunt as our new part time ESL teacher. Karon and Betty Jo did a great job interviewing candidates for a 4th grade position. All 3 were exceptional, and we hope to finalize our selection later this afternoon. Currently I am between interviews for our Third grade HAG position which we will select with the help of Brie, Linnea and Bud.

In all our interviews we talk about the need for 21st century skills for students. Here is a local blog posting about what we can do this summer to enhance our own 21st century skills.

I have also attached a link to a GREAT article from Malcom Gladwell on Teacher selection. Please give this a read if you have a chance.

I am excited about the coming year and will be working on the schedule next week along with our class rolls. Thanks for putting the effort into creating great mixes of students for the next level! I also will be taking part in a preview of the new show from the Open Dream Ensemble. I hope we can secure at least a performance if not another full residency for the coming year.
