Friday Summer Post #1

I am having a GREAT summer so far. Andy and Karon have been working hard to wrap up the paperwork from last year while planning for the 2009-10 year. Today we will send transportation letters to our Summer Academy students, and continue to search for a 3rd grade HAG teacher(s) and a TBE Kindergarten Teacher. Damita continues to manage loads of Data so we can make good decisions on student and teacher placement. Edwin and Donald have helped move several classrooms and are starting to strip and wax the upper classrooms.

Tanya, Linnea and I thoroughly enjoyed our learning experience at World View last week. We were able to spend some time crafting an action plan which will help us to continue to infuse our Theme of World Cultures and Communications into our classrooms and beyond. We look forward to sharing our learning with the entire staff in August and throughout the year.

Speaking of learning, What are you all reading this summer? I am currently re-reading "The Power of One." I also picked up "The Polysyllabic Spree" by Nick Hornby to read on the plane. I am taking a brief trip to Montreal with Elizabeth while the boys enjoy Camp Thunderbird. Feel free to leave a comment about your book selections and I will post them here on the blog.

A Reminder that we are on a Summer schedule and the building is open from 8-4 daily. Next week we will close at 1pm on Wednesday July 1st. This will allow our 12 month employees to take their furlough time in conjunction with the 4th of July holiday. July 6th we will return to the 8-4 schedule.

Enjoy the summer and all the opportunities it offers for renewal and growth.
