Thursday July 22nd

I was excited to see 20 teachers working this week with Rosie Turner on SIOP. The switch to a balanced literacy program based on the "Imagine It" series along with the skills learned this week will result in a magical future for our students.

We have some good news to share on the personnel front.

Kathy Wilheit is our new Curriculum Coordinator. She comes to us from Southwest elementary and has many talents that will drive our instructional programs.

Stephanie Ingram is now a full-time ESL teacher. She replaces Lynn Keshian who has accepted a position with Wiley as a bilingual Home-School Coordinator.

Angela Hunt will now absorb an additional 0.5 ESL position from Stephanie's promotion and be full-time here at Brunson.

Ryan Crater is our new Technology Facilitator. He has recently worked as a computer skills teacher at Yadkinville elementary.

Lucinda Ancajima will be our Spanish Teacher for 5th Grade. We will have her services on Monday, Tuesday and Friday Mornings. Marina Gutierrez has been hired to teach full-time at Paisley Middle School.

The schedule is complex with our move to RTI and the WSFCS essentials. We also must continue to work with a 0.8 Music teacher and Spanish on a fixed schedule. It is coming together and I will want to get some feed back the week of the 9th. Zip me an e-mail if you are interested meeting at school in a small group to troubleshoot the schedule on Tuesday, August 10th at 3pm.

Click here to go to the WSFCS Professional development site and sign up for the "Title One/Equity Plus Conference - Elementary" Raising the Bar for the 21st Century WSFCS Improvement Conference will be for all Title I/Equity Plus schools. The conference speaker will be Baruti Kafele known for his work with educating and empowering Black and Latino children and children at-risk. There will be numerous breakout sessions with topics such as integrating technology, male mentorship, parental involvement, Positive Behavior Intervention Support, building relationships with students, wellness for success, etc. Registration will begin at 12:15 p.m. The conference will begin at 12:30 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.

Please keep Debbie Tucker in your thoughts as her Father passed away this summer. Also keep the Spindel/Hobin family in your thoughts as our Friend Roxie passed away this summer.

I will post more in August as I am at the WSFCS leadership retreat next week.
