Welcome to 2010-2011

It is with great pleasure that I welcome each of you the 2010-11 school year. As the summer winds down and we mentally and physically transition back to our educational calling, I want to share with you the schedule for our professional days. I hope this schedule allows us to build relationships within our staff while providing the time needed to prepare your space and materials to have a comfortable start to the year.

Monday, August 16th
Title One Conference – Trade day for April 25, 2011
8:00-11:00 Work in your classrooms
11:00-12:30 Lunch on your own
12:30-4:30 Raising the Bar for the 21st Century

WSFCS Improvement Conference will be for all Title I/Equity Plus schools. The conference speaker will be Baruti Kafele known for his work with educating and empowering Black and Latino children and children at-risk. There will be numerous breakout sessions with topics such as integrating technology, male mentorship, parental involvement, Positive Behavior Intervention Support, building relationships with students, wellness for success, etc. Registration will begin at 12:15 p.m. The conference will begin at 12:30 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, August 17th
7:30-8:30 Light Breakfast in the café
8:30-11:00 Staff development in media center
11:00-12:30 Lunch on your own
12:30-3:30 Classroom work

Wednesday, August 18th
Reserved for Central Office Staff Development.
All must attend

Thursday, August 19th
8:00-11:00 Staff development in media center
11:00-12:30 Lunch on your own
12:30-3:30 Classroom work

Friday, August 20th
Reserved for Central Office Staff Development.
All must attend

Monday, August 23rd
OPEN HOUSE for all Brunson Students and their families
1:00-4:00 Staff meeting
4:00-5:00 Break for dinner
5:00-7:30 Open House

Tuesday, August 24th
Work day in Classrooms

Wednesday, August 25th
School Starts!

These days will be an important time for our school to continue building a meaningful community of learners. I anxiously await your arrival.
