STEM Opportunity

Teacher Nominations for UBEATS 2010-11 - The University of North Carolina - Greensboro, North Carolina State University, and the National Science Foundation invite elementary teachers to participate in UBEATS, an innovative, inquiry-based approach to STEM education that uses standards from science and music. Invited to participate are school or school system-based teams of two teachers (one from 4th or 5th grade and one from 2nd or 3rd grade). Each teacher will be paid $500 for participation in the summer event (Aug. 2-7 at UNC-G’s Gateway Research Park), and for testing the modules in their classroom during the 2010-11 school year. Certificates of participation for CEU credit will be awarded. Priority will be given to applicants from Tier 1 or Tier 2 counties as designated by the NC Department of Commerce. Please contact Cathy Scott at cmkowole@uncg.edu to recommend teachers who are interested in participating.
