Scholarship Opportunity

Dear PTA Officers,
Please share this opportunity with your teachers.

NC PTA is please to continue its Teacher Scholarship Program. A grant in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a teacher seeking a Masters degree in Education.

To be eligible for the North Carolina PTA Teacher Scholarship, a teacher must:

Be currently teaching in North Carolina public schools with a PTA in good standing (Dues paid, Bylaws up-to-date, Financial Review submitted for 2008-09, and members entered into the NCPTA database);

Be an instructional classroom teacher (not a media specialist, guidance counselor, etc.);

Have a minimum of three years' teaching experience;

Work towards a Masters Degree in a subject or grade level area, not administration;

Continue/return to teaching in a public school classroom; and

Be a current member of the local PTA.

The teacher may be working on the degree on either a full-time or part-time basis. The scholarship can be used to cover tuition costs and other student fees, purchase of books, or other direct costs related to the degree program. The money will be placed into an account at the college/university from which these expenses can be paid.

The application deadline is April 30, 2010. NCPTA will only accept online applications, so please go to www.ncpta.org and click the "PTA Information" and then click on the Awards/Grants link to apply.
